You write that with some authority, like you know a lot about Cuba, Cuban people, the US, and US people, Russia, and Russian people, like you know enough to compare.

If you had been at least to Cuba, and mixed with the people, you would know that Cuba feels deserted by Russia, many folk there have Russian names, but never met their Russian Dads, who left Cuba long ago. They have minimal contact with Russia now, and the last thing they are buying is weapons. What they have is what they got a long time ago, but most are better educated than US folk, and know the problems that the capitalist economy is facing, that it is unsustainable.

It amazes me how the blinded don't even notice they are blinded, believing entirely their own vision of the world, despite having no actual sight of it, as you seem to be, look to the censorship of foreign news in your own country. When was the last time you heard the news that the Cuban people hear in their country, or that Russian people hear in theirs? If you know neither, then you are not qualified to speak as if you know anything about them at all, I would say.
