You summed up the entire issue here, the shortage of energy storage capability was the single source of the issue. Had that not existed, there would have been no crisis, regardless of gas or nuclear availability.
You talk of it also in past tense, which implies the problem has been fixed, there is now adequate energy storage cabaikity.
So why still nuclear? Why not shut it down now for good? And gas, is gas still being used? If so, why has solar not been scaled up to eliminate it?
Also on method of storage, it could be as hydrogen rather than batteries, this would generate fuel which can even keep aerospace airborne with no pollution, and actually a negative temperature impulse, assisting filtration and circulation of water, and even alternative human consumable food (See "Solein").
We actually can't use enough solar, it truly is limitless, and the beneficial effects are just too numerous to cover.
I don't get why nuclear is still in the picture, it shouldn't be.
