You probably won't like it much if I say you yourself are still practicing slavery, and that this has the ultimate effect of a burning planet. We all do, we have no choice as stands, we are all energy slaves, and most of us don't realise it. The whole system of humanity is energy slavery as stands.
The folk in history that had something to say about it probably knew of historical societies that had existed without it, but it draws everyone in. When first faced with it, we have to do it or die.
The first people to be faced with it could have been something like those that chose not to pay any attention to a minority who claimed their god had ordered them to start hoarding grain for seven years, because that would be followed by seven years of famine. Sure enough it was, and sure enough the folk who followed the directive were "Looked after" by their god, that had promised they would be the "chosen people", all others, including royalty and former dignitaries ended up having to submit their entire families to the hoarders, begging for mercy, to be saved from starvation.
What they did, the hoarders, was sieze control of the energy supply of all others, thus enslaving them. When other societies came up against the artficially increased power of the slavers backed by slaves, they would not be able to avoid giving in to the directive "Do what we do, or die".
And here we are, still practicing control of the energy of all others, whilst having our own energy supply controlled by all others, we are both slaver and enslaved at the same time.
In addition to just energy being the thing artificially scarcified, in order to make profit from it, by only supplying it to those that can give us energy profit, we have to now include all things, even information, and education, its all commodified, all supplied only to the already priveliged, letting the others starve of it, never giving them enough to overpower us. This is the game in the system as it has become, and it is energy slavery.
But look, it ends in a burning planet - take all the energy of profit, convert it to heat at market rates kWhrs, add to the known heat losses of refinement and extraction of all energy resources including food, apply it to the thermal mass of the planet, and look, it comes to the same ballpark as the actual figure measured, and it even follows the trend.
Why isn't this generallly known, why do we prefer to virtue signal, with all the activity done on things like greenhouse gases, which are actually unprovable in an adiabatic atmosphere - it's complicated!
And besides, if the problem is ever fixed, then it's the end of profit, because profit is the energy lie right at the heart of it that extracts every bite of energy taken from the planet by us - we can't fix any problems at proft, because if problems are fixed, then there is no more possibliity of profit.
This is why I spend so much time trying to show that we can have a different world, when nature forces us to use only solar, we will move into a very different world, a much better world, truly free of slavery, it will be gone forever, and then we might all be happy to admit, we all contributed to an inhuman system and all the inhumanity committed by it, we were all part of it, whether we knew it or not, but that was the old world, now we all have a clean slate in that new world, everyone is free from the bad driver of energy that had to come from destruction, and it was all necessary to get to the technology needed to move to solar.
As for whether or not we currently contribute to the harmful system of energy slavery: Can you choose to eat and live without having to use money issued as debt? If not, then you do contribute to the harmful system destroying the planet, and you have no choice. It applies to all of us as stands.
