You are absolutely right, but it isn't just DeSantis with this mindset, not even just white males, it has been around for a very long time. An infamous historical paper comes to mind that you probably know of already, but the title of which we are now almost forbidden to mention by the very same problematic mindset, but I will anyway; "The Mis-Education of the Negro"; it characterises the issue perfectly I think. Well worth a read, for anyone who hasn't read it yet.
