Yes Tim, family. I would call anyone who would loan money under those circumstances, when there is no visible path to repayment, family. The money that the bank locked up in my case was not savings, it was working capital, which I needed to continue functioning in my life which has always been a working life, doing business to make more money where necessary. It was my father who coughed up to get me home. The good folk I was amongst in Cuba generally survive on much less than 100 dollars per month, due to US sanction. But they enjoy life more than we do. They spend a large proportion of life, partying, literally. They have made that a fine art, with around 50% of people officially employed as, and educated to become musicians and dance performers, I was there to assist them with motion capture technology to help market and monetise their art around the world, though those plans were smashed by the actions of my bank.
You chose to spend your working life amassing capital, because the US system required that.
But maybe now you can see the system was not sustainable, only the privileged had the choice of whether or not to amass capital.
So it sounds like now you live in fear, basically, of losing your capital, which would mean losing privilege.
The UK system which I’ve worked in most of my life always had a welfare safety net, so everyone had more of a choice whether or not to amass capital, even whether or not to be educated, though lately that choice has disappeared, as we’ve began to follow more the US model.
So I chose to live life less towards amassing capital, more towards enjoying life, amassing knowledge of different cultures, different creatures, different ways of doing things, and the different ways things work in nature. I have had a very rich life so far, and hope and trust it continues pretty much the same. I enjoy working, but my work involves a lot of things some would define as leisure, hobbies. My work is an integral part of my life, it is mostly voluntary, for no payment other than the satisfaction of knowing I did it, and knowing I helped some others in doing it. I hope to continue doing that as long as I live, if we do not achieve the goal of infinite wealth for all people, from sunlight, as has to happen eventually, one way or another, I will be happy enough to know I did my bit towards achieving it.
