Yay, indeed a pivotal moment, thanks for posting. Now we see it is possible to achieve carbon negativity, some will also notice it is systemic, and multi-factorial, related to the energy source used to create and sustain it, as plants demonstrate by their carbon negativity occuring as a natural result of the way they process solar energy, it is not only possible for humanity to be carbon negative, but in the same way as we have been heavily carbon positive historically, we can similarly be far more carbon negative even than plants, vastly exceeding their capability to "heal" the damage we've done by pollution.

In other words, only we can undo the damage we've done, and the more of us there is busily working to do that, as a natural by-process of our every day activities, using carbon negative technology like we see in this car, the quicker the problem is fixed.

A further improvement to the carbon negative case of this car, (as well as anything else currently powered by batteries) can be made in a fully hydrogen backed up, solar powered world, by swapping out batteries for reversible hydrogen fuel cells, which have far better carbon footprints than batteries, whilst making EVs hybrid hydrogen / electric fueled.

Further to the points also made by Ed C, and Brian DP, in response to your story, the key to changing the entire mode of existence of humanity, from carbon positive to carbon negative, is in the way our economomy works, currently geared to energy by extraction, that is the thing locking us into extraction, it can be reversed, to the opposite of extraction; accepting donation.

In other words, swapping from extracted energy (ie all except solar), to donated energy (ie solar) systemically fixes the problem, and since we are already partially solar powered, the economy has to change as above, to halt and even reverse inflation.

Until then, logically, we will see all currencies continue to deflate (Relative to product), until they are issued to reflect the enerygy donated from the sun, per the ideals of Austrian Economics.

The case of the carbon negative car leads to many cool things, I believe.
