Russian media, which many of us watched in the years it was available in our Western countries (because our own news was boring us to death), until Russia went into Ukraine, (then their media was immediately banned to us), was very clear about Russia's stance on Nazis, since the events of the Maidan in 2014. They did tell us about the bombings by the Ukraine government on the Donbass, but they were very clear that those bombings were done because Donbass was seen as a pro-Russian stronghold, by the Ukrainian government.
Also there are plenty of youtube videos still around, which show Urainian Nazis boasting about their active involvement in Maidan... "It would have been a Gay parade if it wasn't for us"
