Why is there a Rainbow in the Medium Logo Now?
Just Askin’.
Am I allowed to question that?
What if I don’t feel part of it?
What if my own view is that they (you know who I mean), had no right to destroy the normally beautiful image of a rainbow, by adopting it as a political message of oppression?
What if it irritates me to have it pushed into my view, every time I open Medium now?
What if I see it as a symbol of political oppression, by something I know I’ll never feel part of, rather than anything inclusive?
Am I the only one thinking this?
Is everyone else in Medium really part of it? Is it really that narrow here?
To me it just adds to the Dystopia, and the Enshittopia. Is everyone really happy to be sliding ever further into that, whilst the world burns around us?

Update 01/07/2024
I Just noticed today on PC the web interface version of Medium has shed the Rainbow, its back to just plain black characters. I presume the Android App version might follow suit. So this article is already out of date. I will leave for now, and maybe delete after we might no longer worried about Enshittification of the platform.
Thanks Medium. I see this as a positive sign that maybe the grip of the negative emergent property is slipping.
Just one last quibble (I know, just no pleasing some folk!), the reversion has been done in a way that when we use dark mode on PC, and in apps, like I do, to try to protect what is left of my eyesight, the medium logo text is lost in the background. It doesn’t switch to white to contrast with black like all the other text in dark mode, whereas it used to, before the changes were made to it.
Its not really something that makes any difference to me, but its an advertising opportunity missed by Medium where we might be on Trains etc where others might peek at what we are up to (I know, my bad, but its only occasionally!)
