Whilst there might be a tiny element of truth in it, for a fraction of the time, I see this more as a reflection on science than anything.

That something so subjective can be considered as accepted, is proof that pretty much any argument can be bundled up and passed across as “science”.

I’ve driven all manner of cars in life for the best part of a million miles, cycled many tens of thousands, and been cut up by, and watched, just as many old ladies and young girls in mini-motors, often with kids, jumping through red lights and speeding, as guys in beemers.

In fact the most extreme acts of bad driving in my experience to date were done by females. The worst was in my busy town, in morning rush hour I witnessed as a pedestrian; a girl with small car full of kids attempting to overtake a line of stationary traffic in front waiting at a red light, revving hard down the wrong lane of a two lane road, towards a blind bend, only to screech to a halt confronted by traffic rightfully coming the other way up the road. If she’d managed to accelerate towards the bend with red light a second or two longer, or if she’d been driving a more powerful car, it would have been a very nasty accident.

But thanks for posting, still a good story. I agree we will all be much better off, after it has all gone automatic.

I bet most of the scientists involved in that research were girls, even if the main author(s) were guys!
