Whilst I am not saying your conclusions are wrong, I think you might be surprised how well researched the average moon landing conspiricist is, Alan.
Not much research is needed to confirm the US and Russia would both absolutely have been encrypting all transmitted data.
It would have been crazy not to, considering the Cuban missile crisis was in 1962, a year before I was born.
