Whilst I agree with the main message of your article (Russia has the advantage), it isn't true that Russia is energy independent, any more than it would be true to say that a baby still feeding from placenta is energy independent.

The placenta is the materials and fields of Earth that we currently extract all of our energy from.

When the umbilical is cut, the baby has to breathe.

Russia is furthest from having its umbilical cut, therefore potentially will be the last to become independent.

Whereas we in Europe are effectively having the umbilical cut, right now.

So we have to turn to the actual source of all energy in our environment, the sun.

When we do that, we'll find that energy is far more powerful and useful than anyone currently gives it credit for, because we've never effectively used it.

To use it effectively we have to recognise the product added by it, including clean fuel (Hydrogen), and food (See "Solein").

Those are added to the existing economic capital of Earth, because they are donated from an off-planet source, so mony has to be issued on it per the ideals of Austrian Economics, and because the product is donated, so also must the money issued be donated to all people.

This is something not talked about much yet, but it will come about, it can't be denied, and when we start to do it, we'll see oil prices going negative again, and our currencies rebounding in markets, just like we saw last time the equivalent of $10K dollars per person, per month, was issued, in the US.

Then we will be truly energy independent, ending all possibilities of further energy wars, it seems to me.

We might see Russia and China both again on the "Back foot", playing catch-up for a while after we do that.
