Where I see a problem with your reasoning here, is that you might be trying to excuse / deny / ignore some behaviour of your own that has nothing much to do with ego, but which is at the root of all the troubles.
Yes we are closely related to chimps, but chimps don't practice energy slavery.
The latter is what necessarily pits us against one another like gladiators, and it is nothing to do with genes, it's an entirely voluntarily created situation that you might need to pay more attention to religions / faith to understand.
Your mainstream Western opinion of Putin, as well as of religion, gives away some tendency to cherry pick what you want to believe of Western propaganda. That means you don't / won't / can't understand the value of things like Metcalfe's law, which has nothing to do with profit.
Profit is the energy lie at the root of the global energy problem physically destroying the planet at a rate of only a few thousand years per planet.
So we havent done it long, nowhere near as long as we've been related to Chimps.
Otherwise, if it was just down to us being like Chimps, the planet would have been gone, destroyed by us long ago.
The real reason we are paranoid of all other humans is because of enegy slavery. We expect all other humans to be just as competitive / ruthless as we've been ourselves in the dastardly game of energy slavery, to have got where we are, in the scheme of wealth hierarchy, if we we are anywhere but right at the bottom. That position has to have come at the expense of other humans, likely even the lives of some other humans.
I am gueesiing you are probably A trader / digital nomad, by what you've mentioned about your life, so you are not poor, you are living by capital, in which you trade in markets. You might see yourself as an entrepreneur or VC investor. So you do reasonably well by the system of energy slavery. You don't want to see that system ended.
But it has to end, because it depends completely on energy extracted from the planet (profit), and that has come to the end of the run of things that can be destroyed without putting even the richest of investors in the way of personal physical harm.
You might not own any property invested in as rental property, incinerated in California, for example, but you might have done.
You choose to excuse / absolve yourself of all guilt, by saying it's what Chimps do, we are all just Chimps deep down.
But the real issue isn't that we are like chimps, the real reason is that we are practicing energy slavery, that requires us to successfully rip off more energy from all our fellow humans, more successfully than they do of us, in order that we can stay alive, in a system that does not generally allow persistent losers to live.
If we don't wanna play the game of continuously ripping off our fellow humans for energy, or if we don't do very well at it, the system takes our lives, it kills us.
By the system I mean an ancient Ai, a programed behaviour, us programed like LLMs to just play the game of energy slavery, never question it, keep constructing an ever more complex, imaginary world of Enshittopia, that we come to live in, to filter out the horror of the system, the carnage caused in human lives, to feed the beast, which lives on all that extracted energy, throwing it to heat which is applied to the thermal mass of the planet, pushing the temperature up more and more as we go along.
It turns out some religions know a lot about this, energy slavery, especially Yoruba, who's practitioners historically have been arguably the greatest victims of the energy slavery.
But all indegenous faiths, including red Indian and the Turkish equivalents (they are one and the same), the Eskimos, the indigenous people of Peru, the aborigines, they all know what the problem is, they still see it clearly, they are not system blinded by commodified education. They know this system is not of human origin and we will all see sense, one day forced by nature, those of us who survive, as it is being forced, right now.
I am not sure if Buddhism identifies any of this, I don't know enough about Buddhism, but notice it's popular amongst VC investors, who like to play with ideas of manifestation.
You gotta admit it definitely requires some ego, to believe that, right?
Sorry for what is maybe a critique of your character, but how else can we say what might need to be said, to other humans we care anything about?
