When the masses demand free money to fix immediate problems, it has to be given, then the problem becomes how to keep supplying free money of value. It can actually be done but only from sunlight, but as yet conventional profit driven mindsets haven't accepted it.
But they will have to, as it is the only way out, the sun is the only additive source of real energy, the only actual source of wealth.
The only question is how much collateral damage will be incurred in getting there, all countries. Hopefully not more than is survivable by our species.
