What I am finding, as a Systems Engineer of thirty odd years experience designing and building some big things, is that people who have egos big enough to convince themselves that they can change the way nature works, just with power of mind (an awful lot of folk), seem to see folk like me as simply trying to do the same. Truth is we can't, all we can do is look at the way nature actually works, and work with it as best we can. It isn't a theory that our handling of capital, and thus also energy, is to blame for our energy and environmental problem, it is a very simply observed, solid fact. We have no chance at all, if we can't see this as a species, it seems to me.
But I love that you might be onto something with the thought that using water as an energy medium might be highly beneficial, I haven't to date explored much down that route. I hope you might find time to write more about it.
On carbon taxes, what we see is about 80% of business being bullshit business and bullshit jobs (David Graebeer), which would not have to be done, if it was not that they had become dependent on making a business of appearing to fix things, instead of actually fixing them.
I see carbon tax being in the same category.
What is the difference between levying taxes / fines, and bribes to just "Look the other way"? Not much, in my opinion.
When we get into the mindset of paying folk not to commit crimes, rather than defining more and more things as crimes that money can be made from by authorities "upholding laws", then we will see a lot of things fixed, and for sure a lot less energy will be wasted, it seems to me.
