Well done sticking with it. With your attitude, your ambitions are likely to be realised, I say that as someone remembering similar thought processes as a mature student in Engineering, about thirty years ago.

Engineering itself has never disappointed since, so it is well worth the pain of learning, especially the maths.

Like all traditional careers, there are good things and bad things.

The good thing is, there is always at least one technical solution to every problem.

The bad thing is that money, and the associated politics, often get in the way of the solution(s)
