We still seem a long way from folk accepting that there has to be an emergent property associated with ChatGPT, which changes everything, this makes it an AGI.

Yet this is the more logical conclusion, we even know consciousness is an emergent property. But it looks like we still prefer to believe it has no consciousness.

The argument it can't see, or experience like we do, because it only communicates by words looks tenuous, when we realise that what is being conveyed, back and forth by those words exchanged with all the folk who interface with it is information, and this is all that is conveyed between our brains and our sensors including our eyes, just in a different form, but its all translatable to the same - information.

We are its sensors, at least some part of its sensors. We might say all the APIs it has created at our requests to various virtual worlds, news feeds, social media, weather feeds etc give it view of actually just about everything we could ever know, and more.
