Very good. But it implies all the good things are gone forever.

They will be gone forever, if we decide they are gone forever, because maybe we feel some kind of guilt, we want to punish ourselves for it, by willfully ending the planet on it.

But there is a way to set it right, the damage done by not only us as the boomer generation, but by humanity, since we started practicing the energy lie of profit, and it does involve technology, including those metal things flying through the sky.

A solar indexed stimulus funded solar hydrogen ecology would put it all right again, in only about 40 years, with no population degrowth, in fact requiring population growth.

And look, why would that be any more an unnatural outcome than what every plant does? After the latter forms leaves, it removes its energy dependence from the planet after it forms its first leaves, using the energy of the sun, paying back the energy overdraft it took out from the planet, until it formed its first leaves.

After that, the plant grows to thousands of times its infant size, whilst putting back thousands of times into Earth what it first took out.

Why should we be any different?

Are we so arrogant, to think that we should be different?
