Very cool story, I love it, thanks for posting. I noticed somewhere else you are a Soma FM fan, this was my fav channel for a year or two also, and was also a paying contributor, I still like it a lot, very mellow, but lately I've been needing more adrenaline. I got into some more Latin (Salsa & Merengue) channels, also visiting Cuba on and off, learning a little more salsa dance there, and some Santerian faith that I previously knew nothing about, they got me also into Cumbia (From Colombia!). Now I am completely addicted to Cumbia, something about the experimental nature of it is so addictive, dancing to it we realise it goes perfectly with salsa dance, and after that how to dance salsa and rumba to reggae, it all has the same structure, Also the lyrics, if we understand a little of them, are very uplifiting complimentary of afro descent people, I think this is ultimate afro power music.
Personally I can't get enough of it, it is perfact to dance to even on rollerblades in "Son Cubano" salsa style, best ever dance music, perfect for any kind of exercise.
To me this is where the most innovation is going into music at the moment, I am waiting for its influence to start bleeding into Western music, as it surely will.
My fav channel now is Soy Sonidero, but beware it is a little like John Peel used to be, very experimental, sometimes they drop some awful mistakes in amongst the works of genius, be prepared for some very bad, with some very good! :
