Too true, but a mistake made by the same demagogues (Great word!), is to forget the distributed nature of the internet, it finds a way round every attempt to carve it up, to try to become the only voice, so it isn't so easy to mislead the crowd now. Metcalfe's law that the network value is proportional to the square of the number of users proves to be true pretty much every way we look at it. Humanity now equipped with the internet is going to do some big things, after we get over the teething problems, I think.
