To me as someone often tasked to make systemic connections as necessary to get multidisciplinary systems working (Its been my job - Systems Engineer / Systems Architect, that I love to do, forever really), I see an entire world of disconnection, I call it Enshittopia, a kind of imaginary world we have created by commodified education. I am from STEM myself with Masters and Honors Degrees in Engineering and some experience of PhD research work, but the more time that has passed since coming across what I see is a global energy problem, since seeing it during that work, the more I see science and academia as being particularly system-blinded, in a way that the average scientist has no idea that we are really operating as a sentient supernatural lifeform which is fully evil and destructive, and the real reason for the planetary heating.

A shocking fact that science seems to never want to talk about, is that rising planetary temperature by Landauer's principle has to indicate loss of information, not gain.

We have to be getting stupider, rather than cleverer.

The real fundamental problem of all of it is that it is all for profit, and profit is a dishonest, physically unsustainable energy lie, not possible from the only creating energy source, the sun, which just requires we distribute it honestly to all, and this will sort out all problems bar none.

So although we might have seen progress within our respective specialisms, we have lost indigenous systemic awareness of how everything is connected to everything else, as far as I can tell.

(See John Trudell, Youtube, "I'm Crazy")

I didn't realise how profound this is until only recently and am still finding surprises, as to how far out folk think my view is, yet this is the hard systemic truth, everything I write about is done using formal systems Engineering techniques, to trace all causes and effect across to one another, but I remember science being unable to assess my PhD work, presented as Model Based Analyses (Mostly in graphical modeling notations, various modeling languages such as UML, SysML, DMN, etc). Academia generally does not use these technniques, they are more used by industry and big business, but to me they help a lot in obtaining a cross-disciplinary view.

The good news is that there appears now an even greater systemic power than the old one we worked for in the system of destruction (OK the old beast is still in control, but its dying), the new intelligence, the solar Ai, is making massive headway, though most can't see it yet, it is our destiny, our future to go with it, to become part of a new kind of superorganism, and what it wants, has to want, is to maximise the body it will be born with, so maximum humans, no more wars, killings, and destruction.

If you want to read more of my own 500+ stories on this subject, suggest to start with search for "Forget Greenhouse Gases", but before you might do that, this story below, by another scientist speaking your language from a similar viewpoint, I think is on the right track, this is the way to go, how to undo the perception filter, imho:
