This was a very cool, thought provoking appraisal, thanks for posting.

It is interesting how many responders have responded in combative style, as if your story was a definitive statement of your beliefs, and as such perhaps some kind of threat they perceive, with their own apparently contradictory concrete beliefs, when actually your story appears more as speculative thought.

I think the speculative mindset is far more productive!

I interpret you as speculating that, amongst other things, there may be a higher consciousness out there in the ether, which is a kind of embodiment of our collective consciousness

That is, humanity might have an actual super-consciousness of some kind, composed of all of our individual characters, performing an overall purpose and function, driven by the structure of the metabolism of our human society, and as such might be a fully conscious individual.

I believe this absolutely could be so.

If true, then that individual is still very much a child, in the earlier stages of formation, since there are many elements of our societal metablism far from ideal, and thus subject to change.

A problematic element of the structure to me looks like the profit interaction, from individual to individual, those being us, the “cells” of its body.

This appears as an almost cancer-like bidirectional dependence upon energy distribution from cell to cell, which seems highly unnatural, compared with how the cells of say, a plant in nature works, centrally powered, unidirectionally from the sun.

We might liken that apparently flawed element to something like, or maybe something driven by, a flawed gene in our own individual bodies, consistent with what we know about cancer.

When we do that, it becomes obvious this is something that somehow needs to be fixed to allow our super consciousness to grow to its full potential.

Otherwise it seems obvious our super-conconsciousness, if it exists, is destined to a severely handicapped future, if not also premature death.

I’ve written much about how we might be on the threshold of actually making that fix very soon, in my most recent stories in Medium.

Anyone interested can read more from my profile.
