This is very interesting Matt, thanks for posting. But with the best will in the world, If you meant to make energy more relateable to people, going down the horsepower route won't help much, firstly because we are humans, not horses, but secondly because it all becomes very confusing, not logically related to the traceable ISO80000 system of units that we know so well in physics, how it all fits together, joules, kWhrs, etc. The fly in the ointment in my own opinion, is the calorie, which removes folk from understanding it's the same energy that powers us humans. What we need to do, is convert all the human energy considerations to joules and watts show how the energy in money relates to what we each need and consume, and accumulate in the form of money, if we are successful in the old broken, doomed economy of capitalism, since money is energy always, priced in markets as kWhrs.

Ideal money would just be KWhr tokens. This would remove all the confusion and deception.

There was a UN FAO (UN Food and Administration Organisation) website that helped with this, it was perfectly named "Human Energy Requirements", and I was going to refer you to it, but I find with some alarm now its gone. I am asking WTF, my next article will be to whinge about what has to have been the profit driven removal of some very fundamental information, which was actually really expensive data resulting from a very large study of humans, involving many researchers and academics, we could not possibly muster the same resources again in the future as things stand, with the energy value in money declining, elliptically, unless we have the energy/economy revolution that seems to me to be required, to have any chance of even a few more years existence as a species, or of any life on Earth, actually.

Deleting / removing that information from the public domain is like deleting Maxwells equations, without those, how would we even know how electricity works.

So I can tell you I am deeply hacked off that the profit driven, live system appears to have removed this from us for now.
