This is the first story you've written that I entirely resonate with.
To me, capitalism is more than just an ideology, it describes exactly how we handle energy, by way of money, and that is important, because energy is what we need, all of us, like it or not, 150 Joules per second of it, for each of our entire lives, 24/7.
Currently, we are locked into obtaining that energy from Earth, and Earth only has so much of it, now it is actually starting to run out, hence we see less of it in money, manifesting as inflation, and this will not stop until we stop depending on Earth for our energy.
If we likened humanity to an engine, it actually does exist, but this engine has never really been switched on.
Every bank account, every pension, every insurance policy, every contract to pay debt for life, actually translates to a store of energy.
We can liken this to an engine, each store is energy that should be throughput, rather than something static.
imagine the fuel in the reservoir of a carburettor, for example. When the engine is stationary, the fuel stands still, but when the engine runs, none of this fuel stands still.
I think we are on the cusp of starting the engine.
