This is something I too was brought up to understand. I am guilty about using the f-bomb occasionally myself, but each time I've done it, I've had to think long and hard if it is the right thing to do, in the context I've done. It might be that I made the wrong decision every time. I feel like sometimes we have to use the same language as used by the folk we are trying to appeal to, to try to make them see sense, but it never seems to work anyway, so I believe you are right, it never achieves anything useful. In the end we need common civility to have constructive discussions about anything. Thanks for posting!

Here is a thought for you; the N-word is also banned in most communities, and yet still proudly used by many in the community that it refers to, to refer to themselves. Do we have a problem with that? Should we have a problem with that? Language is such a complex problem, it seems to me.
