This is really cool, though a fly in the ointment seems to be that it has the usual requirement for profit to function.
The challenge is to convince other profit driven companies to sacrifice some of their profits to pay the subscriptions asked, though maybe government could bully some into doing, it would have limited success.
Why not just use a fraction of the power generated to create proof of work tokens?
Those, could have value in markets, removing the need for users of the service to pay subscriptions.
The reason why not do that, is that there is a limit to how much energy can be generated from a geothermal source.
They might be nowhere near it yet, but there is a very real limit, which means in effect they have to use zero sum mentality to consider the business case, which itself has to be zero sum.
By that, we see power used to create proof of work tokens subtracts from the possible total of energy which can conceivably be charged for.
This does not apply to solar energy, which also has limits, but those are way above all conceivable power requirements, so effectively, solar combined with proof of work tokens is unlimited, therefore capable of doing all of the work of environmental cleaning we could ever need, worldwide.
Since funds from solar, combined with proof of work tokens are unlimited, expense becomes no longer an issue.
Superconducting transmission lines can be used to create a solar powered world grid with no need of batteries to supply the world with uninterrupted power, purely solar driven.
Add to that direct solar powered high temperature waste disposal plants capable of destroying all toxic waste (except maybe nuclear) including vapours from burning, to harmless, useful carbon, and the energy needed to transport all waste to such sites, and we start to see how all the problems can be fixed, very quickly, by industrial scale implementation of solar energy infrastructure, worldwide.
The thing most folk seem to not be able to understand, is how all of that works, or can happen without profit.
The reason it isn’t happening is we seem incapable of dropping the profit driven mindset as a species.
