This is a cool article, and I agree with the conclusion, lithium batteries are no kind of solution for scaleable "Renewable" energy storage.

It is even more of a no-brainer when we consider also that the DC of the panels in a solar farm can drive electrolysers which generate hydrogen, piped to a storage tank, and onto fuel cells, which can then drive a local grid 24/7, and the excess hydrogen sold as fuel to anyone needing it.

That is fully scaleable, and pretty much makse mains power backup batteries redundant, it seems to me.
