The thing is, the IPCC are taking too long to do anything substantial. They've known the main problems for many years and keep perpetuating the issue.
It is plain for most to see they've made it a business, which they now depend on, and actually many businesses depend on, for their jobs and careers, which together have become an elite industry, that we now identify as the renewables industry.
Whilst actually there is no such thing as physical renewable energy, only a basic knowledge of physics confirms this.
"Renewables", is nothing more than bullshit business (Graeber), activity which requires and consumes significant unnecessary energy itself, jobs for the sake of jobs, whilst pretending to be fixing the problem.
The problem is simple - we are using and depleting the physically stored energy on Earth, including all life itself, driven by the forces of profit.
The climate effects are only part of the symptoms of late stage stored energy depletion.
Other much earlier symptoms not generally accepted to date yet, will become obvious after they are gone, things like cancer, diabetes, and many the other life limiting illnesses and fatal conditions experienced by humans, even actually all wars, are all as a result of humanity insisting on obtaining its energy by extraction from Earth.
This is whilst we have had the technology of solar power collection capability to do otherwise for some time, since at least 2005, perhaps earlier.
I suspect this is part of the indigineous knowledge you mention, to see this without even needing to know much of formal science.
