The reference to "pi-hole" used to check malwarebytes is good (I never trusted malwarebytes anyway), but we need more than that, to confirm whether or not your conclusion of all antivirus being untrustworthy is valid, or just more (dangerous!) fake news. Personally I've used AVG free, as long as its existed, which I am sure must collect and capitalise on personal data, but the point is, I've never found reason to object to that, at no point has sensitive data been compromised, or have I ever regreted using it, but for sure it tells me when things have been detected, that should be fixed, and a lot of the time those things came from seemingly innocent, previously trusted sources.
I would say if you are choosing not to use any antivirus. it is only a matter of time until you regret that decision.
