That MIT has fallen flat on their face with such an analysis is one thing Will, but then you go diving on your face by quoting it without a logical thought of your own. It's obviously emotive clickbait.
If you had any common sense your article should be to question MIT for such deeply flawed research, rather than try to apply it to Germany.
You maybe don't know this, but the level of technical education in Germany is still one of the highest in the world, their industry is run by some of the best technically educated in the world, not least by way of their language itself being way more technical than English. Remember where Einstein himself came from.
MIT trying to tell them, or shame them on what to do, really is laughable, no-one knows more about nuclear than the Germans do collectively, and they know nuclear is a dead duck.
People are just seeing sense at last.
The time and expense of implementing solar is a fraction of that needed for nuclear, and the fastest way to do it is to pay the public money owed already for unmonetised solar product to date. That way the effort of implementation is distributed, therefore can be done in minimum time.
How long does it take to put a few panels on your house, and install an enapter with tank and fuel cell for backup?
A few days, no more.
The only thing stopping everyone doing it at the same time is logistics, which could be sorted by just ordering it all in now.
