Thanks for your story with insights, I hadn't heard of the term "Shallow environmentalism" before, but totally agree it is a thing, and shouldn't be.

My own analyses as a long practicing systems Engineer working voluntarily on the energy problem for nearly seven years in Medium, identifies the solution as a domestic and community solar hydrogen ecology.

I too see "Renewables", net-zero, and carbon recycling as all just more extraction fueled bullshit business (Greaber - extended)

The only energy worth anything is solar, all the others just cost the planet more than they save.

To me EVs, like windpower, are a useful stepping stone, the former identifying maybe the ideal format of a road vehicle in a new solar hydrogen ecology as basically electric, but powered from hydrogen fuel cell, rather than toxic lithium battery, instantly refuellable from any domestic and community solar hydrogen overflows.

I guess you won't agree there is a solution if you are a doomer.

Anywhow, good story, I like your thinking, I think you will think your way out of the doomer mentality soon enough :)
