Thanks for the heads up on how things are in Portugal Araci, I am sad to hear it. Things in UK not great either but to me the kids here are the ones with their feet on the ground, my twenty year old daughter keeps me up to speed with all going on in Tik Tok, youtube etc, though they rightfully scorn Facebook, WhatsApp is still popular, just as well for Facebook since they bought the latter. She has Instagram too. The social media they are connected to connects them with the victims in Palestine, and the other messes of fascist driven violence going on around the world, they don't want that, but as yet seem unable to galvanise any movement, which might be just as well, because if we are to beat fascism once and for all, we have to respond to it differently than we did all the other times in history.
To me connectivity is key, the more of it there is, the more value it adds to humanity as a whole, even though it can look messy, in the end Metcalfe's law always proves to be true.
This is why I don't agree much with cutting down kids phone use, it's what makes them very different from us older, normally more invested "Grown-ups". There is a quick way out of the entire night are which is all caused by our perceived imminence of oncoming energy shortage, including the energy we each need to metabolise to live.
In past times there was genuinely shortages of energy, which was capitalised on by the meanest. But now we see there is massive unmonetised economic product created by energy which truly is additive to existing capital, it's an illusion that energy resources are becoming scarce, one that is played on by everybody undervaluing it, they want to stay in control of the energy available to all people, they would rather be in control of populations at war than have no control in populations at peace, these are older folk causing this trouble, not younger folk, at least not in UK.
At some point solar indexed stimulus will have to be issued to retain any value in money at all, this is what we need to hold out for.
The instant that begins to be issued, we will be over the artificially imposed scarcity, and all this buildup to fascism will be defused.
