Thanks for taking the time to highlight this Jan, though it comes as no surprise, it is an outrageous enough claim that warrants scrutiny, and you are right to point out the damage done by using skewed data.
We see it all the time in Medium, to the point that now our claimed qualifications and experience make no difference to many folks perceptions of what is an expert, or in my case even what it means to be an Engineer.
In Engineering, unfortunately there are two kinds of Engineer, those who insist on living always in theory, and simulations of models which will never be validated or unvalidated by an actual physical system, and those who are happily responsible for producing actual physical systems which have to actually work in reality.
The Engineering field of Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) requires that all models are validated by themselves becoming part of the delivered system. Hence why many traditional modeling and simulation Engineers shy away from it, but it has been in my job title in many roles, personally I love it. But the average reader in Medium doesn't understand the subtle but very important difference, so they take my work with as much skepticism as they might the work of a scientist, or even untrained armchair would-be scientist working from skewed data.
My mission in Medium has condensed over the past five years to identifying the system solution, to the existential energy insecurity problems we are seeing in the world all around us.
During that work, a clear system solution, including how our money needs to change, has become apparent, and in seeing that solution, it is clear that there is only one.
Trouble is, it is very radical, even seemingly biblical, especially the part about money, overturning many long held misperceptions.
But it looks to me like nature is forcing us towards this solution. I don't see any way it can be gotten around, we have to move to it sooner or later, the only question is when, but the longer we leave it, the more damage is done by delaying, and that damage appears to be increasing as a hyperobject, if we include the chaos in people's minds, which in the end is an indication of the quality of our environment, we are after all, products of our environment.
