Thanks for posting. Reflects what I knew already from many friends with similar thoughts, including me; “white guy”, “gringo”, whatever.
I agree with those here that say race doesn’t matter, neither does age, sexuality, or gender. Only that we are all humans, and between us all, we have some great attributes that work really well together as a whole, if only we could realise it.
Interestingly, the people I’ve met with this most completely figured out are in Cuba.
They are also the happiest.
Your post doesn’t sound racist to me at all, just someone curious about categorisation, and where you might fit into it.
Seems to me the need to categorise at all is itself a feature of systemic racism, forced on us by our very flawed economic system, which by nature operates by various processes of exclusion, identifying itself as “Western”.
If you are still seeking answers, I would suggest to try an extended visit to Cuba. Learn a little of their culture and economics by living amongst them for a few months, speaking a little of their language, practicing a little of their religion (it isn’t christianity, but doesn’t exclude it), participating a little in their music.
Their economic system is also far from perfect, but knowing a little about it helps us see the the problems of the western economic system far more clearly.
I guarantee you’ll get some very satisfying answers to your curiosity.
