When a utiltiies energy supplier supplies energy to you, they give you some KWhrs, and you give them some money to pay for it. Convert the money paid to energy at market rates and you'll find you paid more energy to the utilities energy supplier than they paid to you. The net flow of energy was not from utilities energy supplier to you, it was from you to the utilities energy supplier. So their function is not about enriching you in terms of energy, it is about impoverishing you in terms of energy. And your function in society by being part of that chain of implicit energy robbery, is an energy slave. You effectively forage on the planet for at least the energy you personally need to metabolise, and the energy you need to pay bills, by trying to attract energy from other humans, who then have to attract the energy they lost to you, from others. This propagates back through all supply chains to the planet, which is the only thing that can supply more energy out, in response to a little put in, for any length of time.
And yet, the sun supplies KWhrs of energy. You could easily have enough solar panels to supply all your needs, but you don't, because the profit margins on panels needs to be set by the energy requirements of the panel supplier. So they themselves should be solar powered, in order to give you the panels at the lowest price. But they have the same problem as you, they have to find the money to invest in their own solar panels by making money from you.
Add to this, that what we get back out of the planet, in response for a little put in, is becoming less and less all the time, because what we can take from the planet, for the same energy put in, is decreasing, and since this is the energy in profit, profitability of all business is decreasing.
And yet, all the time, the amount of energy coming into the economic system from solar, is increasing.
But effectively all business has to go bankrupt, if we are to try to keep propping up the business for profit, because all will fail to meet their energy overheads, sooner or later, as extractable energy availability continues to deplete.

Yet the solution, to switch to the energy of the sun seems simple enough, it isn't, because of this requirement of everyone to keep successfully robbing our fellow humans for the energy we need to stay alive, and stay with roofs over our heads etc.
The only answer to this, to avoid actually further genocide, since the genocide is actually just the worker ants at the periphery being annihilated to remove their energy load from the system which is becoming ever more energy resource scarcified, it to start issuing money directly representing the solar energy coming in.
