Tbh, I've done enough Sytems Engineering work on the energy aspects of humanity now to confirm energy has to be handled in particular ways, to enable "intelligent" life to become interplanetary, otherwise extinguish itself.
"Intelligence" looks like a little like a curse, in that it comes with it responsibilty for our planet.
We become either the guardians or executioners of our planet, depending on whether or not we accept the responsibilty, but either way we are responsible.
Currently we treat it as something to be exploited, so are on course to destroy it, very soon, if we can't find the way to change how we treat energy, which is the essence of creation and destruction.
Positive energy, is Joules added to Earth, negative energy is Joules taken from Earth.
Our entire profit driven business model ties us into relentlessly taking Joules from Earth.
We currently have no officially accepted method of monetising processes of adding Joules to Earth.
So we are entirely focused on negative energy, not even understanding that it is negative, because it is the only thing we know, to date.
We are so badly mistaken, that we think we can, and will create interplanetary spacecraft technology by way of profit driven business.
It is physically impossible.
The profit driven business model and mentality is intrinsically destructive, continuously removing the Joules from the sun, that nature put to valuable use on Earth, towards creation and maintenance of all life on Earth, including ours.
We have done enough of that now to confirm the effects of are unsustainable, we know we have to either change the business model to something that reverses the damage done, or scale down humanity to a size that might seem sustainable for a while longer, still using the destructive profit driven business model.
We are currently set to do the latter.
The method of scaling down appears to be by global war, or just allowing natural disasters ocurring from depletion and pollution to take its course.
Tens of millions are dying in many places.
We might think because we are making the choice to go with destruction that many species must have made this choice in the past, but look at how a simple plant works.
A plant moves from being something that lives on negative energy for the first part of its life until it forms its first leaves. After that it moves onto positive energy, living from that itself, growing to many times its infant size, to maximise the energy it adds to Earth from the only source of positive energy, the sun, by way of nutrients within the plant. Billions of plants are continuously growing and multiplying like this.
But humanity, a single species, appears unable to do the same.
We have to conclude humanity will be the exception, if we can't change our economy as needed to begin using positive energy, as necessary, by monetising it, the same way as plants do it with nutrients, issued in response to the Joules received by it leaves, transporting the Joules received ultimately to all life needing it.
Perhaps Churchill would be writing this if he was alive now, who knows.
