Startlingly similar theme for a story, but with some completely different messages than one I did earlier. But good job, I would say yours is far more professional than mine. The things I would dispute, outside the politics are technical. I wonder if you will be able to dispute those by faulting some of my logic:
"Renewable Energy" is 1984 doublespeak.
There is only one energy, it is not renewable, it is from the sun.
All energy already on Earth is Stored energy.
Use of any of that stored energy depletes it, always with undesirable outcome, without exception. Oil is stored energy. Wind is stored energy. Waves are stored energy. Volcanic is stored energy. The Earth's rotation is stored energy.
There is only one source of energy, it is fusion, it is the sun.
The only solution is to connect to the only source of energy, the sun, like all of nature already is.
There is no expense too great to make that fix.
It is beyond all considerations of profit, as evident from the impossibility of applying EROI (EROI cannot be applied in the case of an infinite energy source, which the sun is, for our purposes)
Failing to make it, would be like a chicken failing to peck its way out of an egg, or a baby failing to draw the first breath after its umbilical was cut.
