Sorry but this looks to me like "science" gone awry.
The whole business of getting carried away by considerations of carbon, is perfect for making more profit but disastrous for survival, far less sustainable survival, imho.
If we can't or won't interpret what we are seeing, the planet becoming less survivable, as a sure sign of imminent extinction, as a result of constantly extracting the practically usable physical energy from Earth, constantly destroying, as directly opposed to constantly creating, by any and all definitions, fundamentally increasing the temperature on Earth, whilst ignoring or even blaming the actual source of creation, the sun, and the relative effects of using it, creation, vs the effects of not using it, destruction, by the hard laws of physics, then we really are done.
Those fires, as well as immediately extinguishing all life unfortunate enough to be caught in the blaze, are converting matter to heat. This is destruction, even the definition of destruction, converting matter, and life, to heat, further raising the temperature of Earth.
That adds to the heat from the sun, which normally creates via the same thing being burned, biomass and life, therefore it is a self perpetuating process, which can and will, if we keep pushing, by continued use of energy by extraction, tip us, all of life, over the edge of what is survivable.
We don't know what the critical temperature is, but we are racing towards it ever faster, as long as we keep extracting, and we should notice it is directly linked with the business of making profit.
Profit requires extraction.
Hence why science had better start getting it's head around the concept that religion was right about some things.
Keep worshipping the false god of energy extracted from Earth, and we will burn, literally.
