Something seems very wrong to me about this statement Russell. To me its the other way round, our kids have to see us as being the economic burden, we are who ran up the energy debt to the planet, leaving them nothing, its us hoarding the money now to live on by our pensions and investments etc, whilst we expect them to work for nothing. Hell in UK the prospective next government is already talking about national service for them, but they will make it optional, if they agree to do some slave labor meantime.
Its actually our responsibility as parents to put right what we put wrong for them, they actually have not played any part in the harm yet, they are innocent, until they are forced to participate in the energy slavery like we were, but just now there is a lot less energy left to rip-off and throw to heat, so we've had the lion's share of the pie of extractable energy, our kids want a piece, but we think we own it, they can't have any. What is the responsibility of parents, if it isn't to look after them, even killing ourselves for them, if push comes to shove, they are the future, we should honor them as that, I think.
