Some cool thoughts, thanks for posting.
It seems to me like we have been playing a chess game with nature throughout our known history.
We are currently at her check, with one move left to her mate. But most of humanity seem yet to understand it or accept it yet.
There also seems a real danger that she could just lose patience and cut the game short by ridding herself of us.
Of course she always has to win!
I agree with you technology seems to be our way of mimicing nature, most technical solution mimic something in nature.
I am all for solutions of artificial carbon cycling, not to be used to replace nature’s solutions like trees but to complement them.
We can never completely replicate them, but in many cases we can vastly improve certain characteristics, as might be necessary to sustain us.
We didn’t replace birds with aeroplanes, but aeroplanes are incredibly useful too :)
