So true. This I really resonate with. Like it or not, we are increasingly surrounded by all manner of intelligent surveillance technology, focused on us, to profit from us. That tech is infinitely more valuable if it is re-purposed, to analyse our movements and expressions in such a way as to enhance our abilities, whilst even rewarding us directly for that.

To me it feels like this is what technology was always meant for, rather than just being used for profit.

A further tech likely to reverse the tendency of us isolating ourselves from one another to screens, is wearable augmented reality. Imagine that coupled with the aforementioned intelligent surveillance technologies.

AR wearables could have all of the functionality of smartphones that we could see, in addition to things like detailed motion analysis trajectories of people’s movements, say during dance moves or whatever, without removing our focus from the people we might be physically interacting with, enabling us to collaboratively view those things together, as all would be visible as if in the same physical space.

Imagine the power of that for things like dance tuition and choreography.

The future could be very bright indeed.
