So again, get rid of the batteries by using hydrogen. Yes still a tiny trace of some rare materials, as in almost anything manufactured, but not the collosal load of bulk lithium in batteries. With recycling, the remainder is sustainable.
Further, with an Ai in control of government and issue of money, the need to keep everyone driving for profit is removed, transportation can all be automated soon enough, shaming folk off of owning and driving their own manual cars by the hazard to life.
The manual driving enthusiasts will still want to hit the race tracks to deliver their / our adrenalin fix, but the bulk of traffic would be off the road.
I bet you won't like the idea of an Ai in charge, the priveliged seem much more concerned about that than the poor.
But what humans can really be trusted, to never abuse their power?
