Simon, very cool we have shared interests, sorry to hear you got clobbered by the bank also.
I can't imagine anything improving until we sort out our own economies, to align with solar energy, which is having a much bigger effect on economy than anyone in economics or even science is willing to admit.
The same criticism has to be levelled at the Cuban government also, unfortunately, it looks like they had the chance to go completely solar, when they were gifted some solar farms from China, they could have grown that by non profit economics that I describe as "Money-fuel Trees", but they seem to have treated it the way any capitalist country would - as a short term financial proft driven concern, it has a lifetime set by a number of panels failing, then the plant is abondoned, rather than maintaining it or even scaling it up by monetising its output in any way, its just used to charge consumers for energy for a while, maintaining the population as effectively energy slaves, just like we all are in the West, and in the end they just went back to being 100% dependent on imported fossil fuels for their energy, which is often pirated by the US.
Now they are experiencing serious energy shortage and power cuts.
They had a chance to become eneregy independent, which would have given them incredible power, showing the rest of the world how to do it, but they didn't take it.
Sorry not better news from me. If Cuba was to become aware of the non profit technology of solar hydrogen / money-fuel tree type economy, and maybe have another chat with China for some more free solar infrastructure, maybe they could try again. To me they are in a fantastic position to do it, but it would come at a price of them having to restructure government, solar powering the government itself first, then they would be in a position to issue solar indexed stimulus, as necessary to empower everyone to install their own solar hydrogen facilitieis on a community and domestic basis. Then they could convert all those beautiful old cars to run on hydrogen, together with their aircraft, and all is solved, they could be a gem economy, all solar powered, very quick, it could all be achieved in only a couple of years.
