Interesting you make no mention of the part played by profit in all of this, which to me would make for a much simpler analysis.
Profit is mostly finally dispensed with, if/when we complete the move to mathematically positive energy, removing much of the scope of an awful lot of bullshit, by grounding us firmly in the physics of nature.
A problem might be that the crazies would sooner see our whole species expire, than them being proved wrong.
I too am a tech progressive, always have been, there is nothing wrong with tech, in fact it is what humans exist for, whether they know it or not, it seems to me, The only thing wrong with it is that most of it is being done for profit, not for humanity.
It surprises me that so many identifying as "left" still miss this, blaming technology instead.
