Sam it is good these questions are being asked, I think. Thanks for posting.
I agree most governments don’t seem much really inclined to fix environmental problems.
But neither do companies, in my own opinion.
See, the problem isn’t just environmental, it is societal.
Pretty much all jobs are going into automation, so there is now no chance of ever having everyone in gainful employment.
Further, business in general is sliding into more and more dubious business practice, it is now legitimate for businesses to produce nothing of any value, and to collect revenue in return for delivering nothing.
We used to call that theft.
Worse, that very practice is supported by governments, the law is being changed to support it everywhere we look.
Things like parking companies, illegally appointed, billing people for parking in their own legally owned parking places, claiming they owe money, selling that “debt” to debt collectors, whilst collecting free money from governments.
They are doing very well, whilst folk trying to make a living by helping others in real need of help, or actually creating things like music and art, are going bankrupt, by the thousands.
The truth is society is not rewarding real value.
You might think this is going off subject a little but it isn’t. All of these things are symptoms of the same problem; the Grand Energy Ponzi (GEP).
In essence, we have been living almost exclusively from the stored energy of Earth, ignoring that the true source of all wealth, and all creation is the energy of the sun.
Notice everything ever claimed possesion of, and accounted for financially, represents some form of stored energy of earth.
Even if it was created by sunlight and nothing else, by the time it becomes a number in an account, it is already stored energy of Earth.
Energy units accounted for are always in terms of things like KWh, which are actually measures of energy already processed, not energy in process of creating value.
The result is we don’t see value in live energy being processed in a way that is actually adding value.
We function entirely on debt, even by money-as-debt, which perpetuates the entire illusion of scarcity.
All profit driven activity adds to the illusion, and the problem, it seems, when we unravel all.
There is one obvious exception, if we know what to look for, which appears to be leading to the required fundamental change.
That is the activity of creating proof of work tokens from sunlight.
There, we see live energy being processed and adding value, though that value is not yet recognised by conventional capital and debt based economics, it is nonetheless steadily consuming the conventional economy, in a way that feasibly, will lead to a very different economy, in a very short time.
Nothing like the timescales discussed by conventional business and governments, a few years at most.
It will result in all people having free money, money that removes the need of all people to feed from all others and our environment, money representing more than just debt, but actual good work done by the action of sunlight on the Earth.
There, is the solution, and it wasn’t conjured up or devised by any government, company, or even any human, it was nature itself doing what it does, creating things.
