Really interesting analysis, thanks for posting, great to see you are still writing in Medium, I hope you are well.
I didn't know about this song, and not interested to listen to it, now I know what it is about.
I was never a country fan anyway, always finding it depressing, I went through some phases with Johnny Cash and Neil Diamond, those being some favourites of my mother, bless her soul, so I did my duty by doing my best to like it I guess :)
Have got into Cumbia now, am finding Son Cubano dance steps I was taught in Cuba fit perfectly with it, even on rollerblades, skating along my local beach.
