Real problem, thanks for posting.
It is commendable you are doing what you can, to try to slow the rate of damage being done, one of the two things you read are recommended to reduce the anxiety.
But from an off planet point of view we see Earth is very simply dependent on solar energy, the only source of power.
So our effort should not be towards conserving the system of humanity feeding from the stored energy of Earth.
It should be towards implementing whatever is necessary to connect our energy demand to the sun, to remove our dependence on the energy of Earth.
Even if it is only to point this out to those that might not see it yet.

The energy needed to do that will be the last we use from Earth, whether we make the effort or not.

Can we make the effort needed?

Will we make the effort needed?

Of course we can.

Otherwise we would be like the first chicken that never managed to peck its way out of its shell.
