Probably not your fault, but I was disturbed by the presentation of what is effectively Geo-Engineering, as a kind of "Solar experiment", where dust is to be distributed from a high altitude baloon to try to reduce global warming by cutting down sunlight, without naming it as Geo-Engineering.
That, looks like a project that will attract investors by the usual sales technique of telling only a tiny bit of the truth about the "Science", without pointing out the downsides: It Can’t be easily or quickly undone, it can’t be geographically controlled, it shades greenery and solar power collection infrastructure, done substantially it increases solar pressure on Earth, pushing us out of orbit around the sun, it is hazardous to the engines of aircraft, it descends eventually as particulates in the air we breathe, and through which aircraft fly, it is the technical opposite of the only real solution to the existential environmental problem.

Why voluntarily recreate anything like what was previously a known extinction event (volcanic dust).

Geo-Engineering is an extremely negative, even existentially dangerous profit driven pseudo-science, and should be made illegal in my opinion.
Why do they need to try that out to find out how much of a bad idea it is? Are they real scientists or not?

The reason I see it is absolutely profit driven, is that the main interest of the main stakeholders, including the owners of the economist magazine, wish, and are determined, to maintain capitalism, which is only possible if the value can be retained in capital.
The energy of the sun comprises a continuous, never ending, infinitely scaleable source of Joules, donated for free, which have the same wealth creation capability as the Joules released from, or represented by capital, which is exclusively from Earth.
Therefore those Joules if accepted, will end all value in capital, which will mean the end of all advantage and privilege by possesion of capital.
Since we are already partially solar powered, there is already an increasing amount of externally donated free Joules being brought into the system, which are not being honestly or fairly represented by our economy, since money is not substantially being issued to maintain step with the free Joules received.
That, is what they don’t want confirmed.
Geo-Engineering, like 100% vaccine coverage, would wipe out all possibility of us ever knowing what the alternative might have been (survival, anybody?)
