Personally I don't think this is all that clever, it's the kind of mentality which is perfect for enslavement.
We can be talked into almost anything by anyone who has any influence over our future, or maybe a gun pointed to our heads.
But we don't need to honor it.
No matter how much thought we gave it, and how much "honor" or "Trust" we might think rides on it, nobody knows the future, not even those who think they might have control over it and!/or or us, though we all might have a little influence, in the end we can always change our minds.
Its only those that think they can control others, or who want to be controlled by others, who might consider a rod which might have been pushed up their backs, or a rod they pushed up someone else's back, to be unbreakable.
