Optimism is a brilliant thing, I am all for it, but only if it is not misplaced.
Things really can be much better, but only if we change to break the Grand energy Ponzi, which we would need to be blind to still not see.
Carrying on as before, ignoring that we are progressively poisoning ourselves and losing all species of life like a genetic avalanche, where we are not starving by the millions in places like Yemen, or dying by the hundreds of thousands in places like India for the sake of vaccine politics, would be a big mistake, I think.
But there is real hope of a fix, if we choose to see it:
