On time estimates, how long does it take for an explosion to develop? This is a very unpredictable thing, it is like the breakdown and build up of a fault current, highly random, impossible to predict, if we want to prevent it happening, all delay has to be removed.
It doesn't matter if the result is a little chaotic - chaos in the direction of reverse would be much better than driving slowly and orderly over the edge, imho.
